Marijean Amesmann, IBCLC, RLC, CLE – Babeeze London & St. Thomas
I am a Registered, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Certified Lactation Educator (CLE). As a Registered Lactation Consultant, I assist mothers and babies in achieving their personal breastfeeding goals.
I provide evidence based prenatal breastfeeding workshops and private breastfeeding consultations. Prenatal breastfeeding workshops include how to know your baby is getting enough milk, how you can help prevent breastfeeding problems and much more. Private breastfeeding consultations are tailored to meet the needs and concerns of mother and baby, such as breastfeeding management and positioning and latch.
I first became passionate about breastfeeding through my own experience with my first child. My approach to breastfeeding support and information is based on the knowledge that is required for certification as an IBCLC, while lending compassion and understanding that has been gained as a mother from nursing my own children.
I am excited to join the team of practitioners at Babeeze and look forward to connecting with families through breastfeeding education and support.
Marijean Amesmann, IBCLC is available for a private In Home Consultation
Consultations include helping position mother and baby comfortably, helping baby to latch and working with the mother to discover her personal breastfeeding goals. Sometimes the use of feeding devices, breast pumps or other aids can help the mother reach her breastfeeding goals. A Lactation Care Plan is discussed and given to the mother. Private home consults include 2 weeks of follow up by phone or email. (First visit lasts 1.5-2 hours)
Prenatal Breastfeeding Workshop
Breastfeeding is natural and the most nutritious way of feeding babies. It is also a learned art that can take patience and guidance. The trick to breastfeeding well is getting the baby to latch on properly. A baby who latches on well, gets milk well. A baby who latches on poorly has difficulty getting milk.
In this 2 hour class proper latch techniques are demonstrated through video and practical hands on experience in a relaxing atmosphere. Other topics include: how breastfeeding works, good positioning, how birth practices can affect breastfeeding, expression and safe milk storage, normal feeding patterns, how you can help prevent problems, along with lots of opportunity for breastfeeding questions and discussion!
