It is so hard to believe that 2013 is coming to a close.  This year brought with it so many ups and downs.  One of my most valued memories of the year is getting to know you all just a bit better.  With the use of technology and all the social media that I use, I feel like I have made many new friends this year and I have been able to walk along side you and share your journey. New babies born, marriages, new jobs, vacations and more.  It was a pleasure to read and hear about it all.  I hope you keep sharing in 2014!

Our year didn’t turn out quite like we had planned.  Last year, our holiday photo included two sweet boys who we welcomed into our family.  In August, they went back home to their mom.  A sad ending for us, but a blessing for their family.  We miss them dearly and you were right there to help us through.  I am so grateful for that.

We spent a lot of time in arenas, on soccer fields and pools this year.  All of our kids were active all year long and that makes for a fun and busy time around the house.

Our oldest daughter Calli, now taller and smarter (she tells me:) than me, is a fabulous hockey player and artist.  She spends her days painting and visiting art museums wherever she goes.  It is such an honour to watch her enjoy these things that she is so passionate about.  I hope she never losses that.  Her best friend is living with us right now.  This makes life interesting in a house full of teens/tweens…always something exciting going on and loads of laughter.

Rayna, my 12-year-old, is a budding entrepreneur!  She is so creative and there isn’t a day that goes by when she isn’t inventing new things.  It is not uncommon for her to yell from her bedroom (after she should be long asleep) that she has thought of a new invention.  We have turned her latest idea into a really cool business.  Check it out at www.rbbandz.com.  Rayna has excelled at swimming, winning many awards this year, and is now in Cadets and has just received her yellow belt in karate.

My husband, Pete, is the rock of the family.  So calm and cool (helpful with a house full of women!)  He takes all three girls to karate three times a week and is very active in his own hockey.  He and the girls all received their yellow belt in karate this week and they were all so excited about their accomplishment.  We were able to get away a couple times this year, just the two of us, and I can tell you that there is nothing better than getting away with the love of your life.  We were able to reconnect after such a busy time in our house, chat about our marriage and count of many blessings.  I just wish we did this sooner and more often!

Parent Guide is doing well and I continue to build new friendships through business.  I am so thankful for every new day that I can continue to do this work.  I hear from many parents in each community, telling me how they used the guide, or are using it right now, and how it has helped them.  This keeps me energized and motivated to get up and do a better job each and every day.  We launched our new website this year and have welcomed many amazing bloggers to the site.

A huge thank you to you for being a part of my life this year.  I really look forward to your friendship in 2014.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and joyful holiday.

Jennifer:)

Thank you so much for stopping by this page to get to know a bit more about me and why I started Parent Guide Inc. My business story started a way back in 2001... …after the birth of my first daughter, I realized that an "all-in-one" resource guide for parents was needed, and fast! I designed the New Parent Resource Guide to fill a gap in the community for busy parents like myself. The New Parent Resource Guide offers an A-Z of key contacts for parents, caregivers, service providers, and health care professionals.  Working with key businesses and organizations in the community, we have also compiled much-needed articles, tips, and charts to answer all your parenting questions. The latest addition to our family is the School Age Resource Guide to serve parents of children, 3 to 18 years!  This guide answers questions about: nutrition, bullying, curriculum, building self-esteem, and much more, as well as offering a full directory of local and national resources. The Parentguide.ca website offers an “all-in-one” spot for parents to connect, add their own blog, and find needed resources in their community.  It is a site that educates and entertains and if you can't find somthing just ASK me. I am here to serve YOU!  My hope is that you connect with our members, find comfort in their words, and share your own story. My goal is to see what I can do to help make life a bit easier for you.   You are why I do what I do! I can’t wait to get to know you!  Comment below to tell me about yourself – then start blogging so we can find out what makes you get up in the morning!  Check out my blog too and I am sure you will be surprised what gets me out of bed each day!!!
